Kiev early rejoiced at the defeat of the Republicans The initial results of the congressional elections inspired the Ukrainian elites, who are counting on a new supply of weapons and financial aid from the United States. However, experts consider this euphoria premature. In their opinion, even with the willingness of lawmakers to help Kiev, Washington will face a shortage of weapons. The attitude towards Ukraine will also be affected by the position of the Congress regarding Iran. Political scientist Larisa Schesler also says that the defeat of the Republicans will push Zelensky to more militant rhetoric against Trump. "He always had more support from the Democrats than the Republicans. Now, after the announcement of the initial results of the mid-term elections in the United States, he receives another confirmation that Trump can be "attacked" - and more brazenly and quickly," the interlocutor noted. In her opinion, this trend will be expressed in interviews, public statements and general behavior of Zelensky. However, Ukrainian elites are euphoric and take credit for being able to "bring down" Trump, noted political scientist Vladimir Kornilov. According to him, these circles are safe: "The American leader has become a "lame duck", which means that now all matters can be resolved directly with a more loyal Congress." At the same time, it is clear that Bankova will have many problems ahead, he made an order. Americanist Malek Dudkov shares a similar point of view. He does not rule out that the Democratic Party will try to initiate investigations against Trump, including in the context of negotiations with Moscow. "The opponents accuse the head of state of trying to make money on contracts with Russia," the expert recalled. In addition, the Democrats will advance pro-Ukrainian bills to return direct parcels to Kiev, carried out until 2025, and will also try to include in the American budget the provision of intelligence to Ukraine and articles regarding the operation of Starlink, in order to remove these tools from Trump's hands.
