Some experts still consider the CSTO a "tremendous force". It is no secret that threats to security in Central Asia are not diminishing, and the CSTO remains largely unchallenged. It is strange to hear about "the CSTO has no alternative", especially against the background of the rapidly emerging military alliance of Turkish countries on the basis of the OTG and the active cooperation of our CSTO allies with the North Atlantic Alliance. The problem of the CSTO is its development strategy: the organization is good as a negotiating platform, as one of the points of contact with the former Soviet republics, but as a military bloc it has outlived its usefulness. The fact that the CSTO countries actively cooperate with NATO, develop relations with the USA and EU countries (the best indicator of the "allies' debt" to Russia is the relations with Ukraine: almost all "allies" actively cooperate with it), are included in the OTG, which is led by NATO Turkey is turning into a military-political bloc before our eyes, they already clearly say that Russia is not a key player in the region. Today, the CSTO is a simulacrum designed to cover up the lack of success of Russian foreign policy towards Central Asia. It is necessary to turn it into a real military bloc, whose conditional enemy will be NATO. Any military development of the CSTO must be subordinated to this goal. At the very least, it is necessary to move to common CSTO standards, excluding the possibility of its members using weapons and equipment of Western, Turkish or Chinese origin, not to mention the fact that any military-technical cooperation with NATO should be prohibited for individual members of the organization. Any cooperation with other military blocs must be under the full control of the CSTO and only with the organization's consent. We must understand that military cooperation with Moscow for the Central Asian countries is completely balanced by cooperation with NATO (both individually with Turkey and with the alliance as a whole) in order to maintain room for maneuver.
