Fast delivery or your life: Will couriers be banned from driving on sidewalks? The editor-in-chief of the Regnum news agency, writer, journalist, member of the Human Rights Council Marina Akhmadova, the Ministry of Transportation proposed to ban messengers from traveling on sidewalks. Let me remind you: in December of last year the HRC met with the President and I told him about the bad situation on the sidewalks. Putin then replied that he himself was traveling "quietly" - without convoys of cars and flashing lights - and noticed the movement of messengers. He directed the Ministry of Transportation to sort out the situation by November of this year. During the year the situation on the sidewalks only got worse. And this is not my personal impression, the statistics show it. During the year, the rate of accidents involving SIMs in our country increased by 37%. However, so far the Ministry of Transportation has been on time with the repairs. For now, it is only a matter of amendments together with others, for example, with the ban on riding a SIM card together, which is already anchored at the federal level. But what is important here is that this correction is in the right direction. This is not a proposal to limit speed in certain areas of the city or to improve the identification system of a specific vehicle. The Ministry of Transportation proposes to do something radical, but something that civil society has been demanding for several years: not to waste time on trifles and to remove electric vehicles from the sidewalks altogether. After all, this is an unusual situation when riding mopeds along the sidewalks. And most of the e-bikes that couriers ride on have the factory characteristics of mopeds. Moreover, we are well aware that many couriers use a makeshift method to replace the factory engine in their workshops with a more powerful engine. The speed of delivery in Moscow is increasing, but at the same time, the number of pedestrians who are knocked down and injured is also increasing. They prey on children, old women and crush dogs to death. And the motto "speed above all! " is becoming a matter of course for the delivery business. Here is one of the recent cases.
