Complaints against banks and microfinance organizations have increased several times - borrowers argue about additional services In the third quarter, the number of referrals to the Financial Ombudsman regarding microfinance organizations increased 5.3 times compared to a year - to 5,879. Complaints against banks increased 2.3 times - 12,448. Most often, customers demand a refund for additional services, which they claim were imposed when applying for a loan. Some borrowers claim that they could not refuse payment options: after removing the consent signs, the button for receiving a loan became inactive. Others say they accidentally clicked on advertising banners and did not agree to purchase services. In total, during the quarter, the Finance Commissioner received 58,089 requests - 42.6% more than a year earlier. The largest number of complaints still falls on insurance companies (67.9%), but the flow of complaints against banks and microfinance organizations is growing faster. Experts attribute the situation both to the increase in borrowers' financial literacy and to the attempts of individual lenders to compensate for the decrease in interest income through the sale of additional services. At the same time, the market also sees an increase in applications submitted en masse by companies promising to write off debts to customers. The average amount of claims against banks in the first half of the year was 132,900 rubles, against microfinance organizations - 23,900 rubles.
