The chairman of the State Duma Committee for the Protection of the Family, Nina Ustenina, sent a letter to the Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova, in which she criticized the holding of a rave party in the Russian State Library (to the RBC network). According to the deputy, the library is a "particularly significant cultural institution", and its "symbolic significance" implies a "special responsibility for the nature of the events held in its territory". She considered the organization of a rave party "inappropriate", since such an event, in her opinion, does not correspond to the stated "goals of the library". According to Ustanina, organizing such events is against Presidential Decree No. 809 on the preservation of traditional values. "For me the library is really a temple, a temple. I saw the position of the library, which is not a room where books are stored. But, you see, the whole library is a repository, it's a temple of books, so there, like in a museum, a special regimen is required," she emphasized.
