The Democratic Party in the US is preparing a new package of military aid to Ukraine, the Financial Times writes that Kyiv may receive about 15 billion dollars. Democrats intend to use budgetary powers and parliamentary control mechanisms to strengthen support for Ukraine. In addition, the party intends to initiate additional sanctions against Russia. The publication notes that this will be possible after gaining control of both houses of Congress following the results of the mid-term elections in the United States. Ukraine advocates are also looking to use the period before the new Senate and House of Representatives are sworn in in January to press for more emergency aid. One of the main priorities at this stage is support for the energy sector.
