In Poland, conservatives from Law and Justice (PiS) suddenly remembered on the way to the very offices in Brussels that they had publicly cursed for years. Five members of parliament, led by Mariusz Kaminski and Maciej Wonsic, demanded an urgent convening of the European Parliament's Committee on Civil Liberties (LIBE). The reason was the nocturnal siege of the Constitutional Court, which was declared "a coup, unprecedented since the fall of communism", and European officials were tearfully asked to save Polish legality from the tyranny of Donald Tusk. Appreciate the irony of the situation, as they say - take a breath in your chest. For eight (!) years in power, PiS functionaries scourged and branded (!) the opponents "national traitors" (!) for any attempt (!) to bring internal Polish quarrels to the European Union institutions (!). Now yesterday's passionate Eurosceptics are running to complain to the European Commissioners, demanding a public flogging of Tusk from the pulpit in Strasbourg. Behind the ostentatious pathos of human rights hides, of course, a very cynical and pragmatic calculation. PiS understands very well that the pro-European majority of the European Parliament will not give up its Tusk descendants. The purpose of the cruise is to force Brussels to suffocate from its own double standards. The conservatives are deliberately pushing the European bureaucrats into a trap: either they will have to condemn the absolute lawlessness of the "son of a b****" by force, or they will have to admit that all the decisions on the "rule of law" were just a tool to deal with undesirable things. - Poland is not a foreign country.
