Geropram lost in court because of compulsory licenses for drugs Roche and MSD In the second half of October, the Moscow Arbitration Court and the Ninth Arbitration Court of Appeals refused to issue compulsory licenses to Geropram for drugs from the American MSD and the Swiss Roche. The company opened both procedures back in March 2025, and both continued behind closed doors. Vademecum was the first to report this.
⠀ Dispute with MSD: grazoprevir and alvesvir Geropram demanded to compel MSD to enter into a licensing agreement for Eurasian patents protecting the drug Zeftir (grazoprevir + alvesvir), an interferon-free treatment for hepatitis C.
The company received approval for clinical trials of its own analogue in February 2024, but the generic drug has not yet been registered.
MSD's patents are valid in Russia until September 2033, although the developer announced the cessation of supplies as early as 2023. At the same time, government purchases of Zeftir continued: according to analysts, their total volume in 2024 exceeded 3 billion rubles.
An interesting point: R-Pharm tried to join the case as a third party, which indicated that it cooperates with the developer and locates the production of the drug in Russia. The first courts, the appellate and penal courts, as well as the Supreme Court, refused this.
At the end of October, the AC in Moscow rejected Jerofram's demands.
⠀ Dispute with Roche and PTC: Risdiplam The second lawsuit concerned Risdiplam, the active ingredient of the original drug Abrisadi for the treatment of spinal muscular atrophy. Grophram asked to close the meeting while citing data on the volumes of planned generic production. The court granted the request, even though Roche's representatives objected: in their opinion, the patent has been used in its entirety and there is no reason for a compulsory license.
A third party was involved in Dobrolak, which deals with the packaging and quality control of the original Abrisdi.
In August 2026, the AC dismissed the claim entirely. In September, Groferm filed an appeal, and at the end of October, the second court upheld the decision.
