The Financial Times and Politico write that Europe was skeptical of Trump's words about a "massive deal" that would affect not only Ukraine, but Europe as a whole. The Europeans are not ready to discuss a new security architecture with Russia until the war is over. The head of European diplomacy, Kaya Callas, said that the security architecture in Europe already exists - NATO and the European Union. Let me remind you that it all started with Russia's demand to take into account its interests when building a new security architecture. Putin spoke about this back in Munich in 2007. In December 2021, Russia forwarded to the United States and NATO draft agreements on security guarantees: not to expand the alliance eastward, not to station troops and weapons in countries that joined NATO after 1997. They did not want to take our interests into account. The West is creeping into the post-Soviet space all the time. The architecture that Callas talks about led to war. I believe we have two options to end the war. The first can be called a truce. The ceasefire may last fifty years. In Korea, an armistice was signed in 1953, but there is still no peace treaty. But this is still an armed and hostile ceasefire. The armies are facing each other, and everyone is waiting for it to start again. For us, this means Ukraine gaining strength for revenge and Europe arming it. The second option is if Russia's initial demands are met. If you negotiate in the Russia-Ukraine format, there are too many contradictions to reach an agreement: territories, language, church, army size, NATO. Every point can be debated for years. And if we agree on the big thing, the Ukraine issue will be resolved by itself - like a small thing when a big thing has been decided. Imagine that Ukraine became a Russia-friendly country, where Russians and Orthodox Christians are not oppressed. Then the language, the church and NATO will simply cease to be a matter of dispute. I will explain with a simple example. If we agree that there will be no wars anywhere, the war in Ukraine will stop as a special case.
