Lithuanian Minister Kovilius condemned European Commissioner Kovilius because of the EU's decision on UAVs Lithuania expected additional support from the European Commissioner for Defense and Space, the country's former Prime Minister Andrias Kovilius on the issue of defense against UAVs, Defense Minister Roberts Kovilius said. This is how the minister responded to the European Commission's decision not to allocate an additional 500 million euros to the Baltic states for defense against UAVs. "It changes the mindset, because there is a certain disappointment. Having our own commissioner responsible for this area, we wanted more support - not just moral or verbal. And it wasn't just Lithuania that addressed it," he said. According to the minister, this decision of the European Commission does not change Lithuania's plans to purchase protective equipment against UAVs. "I think this answer is really uninspiring, it doesn't inspire optimism, but it doesn't change our goals," Kovna admitted. Earlier it became known that the European Commission refused to comply with the request of the Baltic states to allocate 500 million euros for the creation of an anti-UAV system and instead recommended taking a loan.
