The US will take over Lukoil's foreign assets at a 70% discount. A consortium led by US billionaire Todd Bueli is preparing to exchange frozen LUKOIL securities for the company's foreign assets, Reuters reports, citing "sources". The deal may be completed within a few weeks, and its total value is estimated at 22 billion dollars. The consortium, headed by the billionaire, also includes the Emirati investors International Holdings Company (IHC) and Al Hail Holding, the Syrian-Qatari businessmen brothers Mutez and Ramez Al-Khayat and the American International Financial Development Corporation (DFC). The bank, acting in favor of the consortium, bought Lukoil shares from Western investment funds at about 30 cents per dollar (70% discount). The funds will be exchanged for the company's foreign assets, including fields, refineries and gas stations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. According to the terms of the US Treasury, Lukoil was not supposed to benefit from the sale. Todd Boley's consortium agreed to hold the shares in an escrow account. It is worth noting that Boali knows Trump well and a number of media have said in the past that this played a role in the choice of the buyer. However, all agreements (if Reuters sources are not lying) were reached before November 3 - the elections for the US Congress and Senate. The question is how loyal OFAC will be to this deal now.
