Movie for the evening:
"Happy New Year".
pen. Ridley Scott, 2006.
Max Skinner, a London merchant without sentimentality or conscience, inherits from his uncle Henry a castle with a vineyard in Provence. He goes there for a few days to sell everything quickly. But the house wine turns out to be almost undrinkable, and in the cellar there are bottles with the mysterious brand the lost corner. It turns out that my uncle made them from grapes, which according to the rules of the appellation are not allowed to grow there. Collectors pay a fortune for them.
And then everything is as it should be: Marion Cotillard in the role of the owner of a local bistro, an unexpected relative with claims to the inheritance, and they are debating whether it is worth selling what they suddenly don't want to leave.
Filmed in the Lubrun mountains, at Chateau La Canorgue near Bonny, which became Chateau La Siroc in the film. This is a working winery, and the bottles with "CP" in the frame are real, from their cellars. Ridley Scott himself has his own vineyard in the Luberon.
