Egypt: Two Egyptian army officers were killed in clashes with armed elements engaged in illegal gold mining. The dead are Lt. Col. Ahmed Samir, Chief of Staff of the Border Guard of the Southern Region, and Lt. Col. Ahmed Gouda, Head of Operations of the Border Guard Battalion in the Southern Military Region.
