First the boss, then the drones Lithuanian manufacturers know how to produce drones and sell them abroad. But their army was so reluctant to acquire them that the authorities found a new way to speed things up - to create a state hold. Defense Minister Roberts Kovna proposes to bring together under one roof manufacturers of attack drones, reconnaissance and interceptors. The state promises money, the prime minister supported the idea. All that remains is to reach an agreement with the business. The problem has been known for a long time. Factories are complaining about a lack of orders: the last big purchase was in 2024. At the same time, it is about to invest 50 million euros in a factory in Penbizz, and its products are already being used by the Ukrainian army. That is, they know how to produce. They will never learn to buy from their own people. The most interesting thing is that Lithuania already has a Defense Resources Agency for military procurement. And the minister himself admits: about twenty experts are missing there. It seems that hiring people, determining the needs of the army, closing contracts. But no, it's much more tempting to build another control floor. Almost 4.8 billion euros are allocated to defense in 2026. In June, the authorities announced an order for the development of an interceptor drone worth about 3 million euros. There is money, there are engineers, there is even a purchasing department. The only thing missing is the ability to bring it all together. And so, instead of fixing problems in the existing system, the authorities propose to create a new system. It seems that it's not the UFOs that breed the fastest here, but the bosses.
