The shortage of workers in the retail trade reached 520,000 people in November - this is about 6% of the total labor shortage, Izvestia reported.
The All-Russian Labor Research Institute noted that this field is characterized by high employee turnover and a low threshold for entering the profession. Therefore, there is no reason to talk about a critical deficit in general, although this does not rule out local difficulties for individual companies.
Among the reasons can be named people who move to other jobs, the development of trading places and delivery services, as well as relatively low salaries compared to the national average. To retain employees, organizations are forced to continue the wage race. Difficulties in recruiting employees harm investment, prevent the opening of new stores and increase the burden on the existing staff.
