The researcher claims that Apple maintains an undisclosed, multilingual "grey list" of approximately 100,000 words and phrases that iOS keyboards do not support for autocomplete or gesture input. The list does not block text input, but in many cases prevents tooltips from appearing. Derrick Kaufman discovered the list after noticing that gesture input wasn't working for phrases like "bad guy" or "white guy." The list also includes politically sensitive phrases such as "Sleepy Joe", "Dictator Trump" and "Auschwitz". Apple declined to confirm details, but said users can always enter text or turn off predictive input, and that the keyboards avoid making inappropriate or offensive suggestions.
