All problems have been solved: Azerbaijan has started to replace the word "stop" in road signs Deputy Mili Majlis, Hikmet Babaoglu, made a proposal to replace the foreign word "stop" in road signs with Azerbaijani analogues. According to the parliamentarian, the Institute of Linguistics of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan should actively develop more proposals for introducing local words into everyday use. He brought the road infrastructure as an example. Babaoglu pointed out that instead of the borrowed word "stop" in road signs, it is more correct to use the Azerbaijani words "aruch" ("stop") or "toxta" ("wait" / "freeze"). The deputy explained that the word "generation" expresses a strict imperative form and does not convey additional dynamics of the movement. In turn, the "toxta" option has a wider semantic meaning - it implies a short pause: stop, take a breath, and then continue on your way.
