Out of every UAH 100 of expenditures in the draft state budget for 2027, UAH 67 is earmarked for defense and security, and only UAH 1.6 for public investments, according to calculations by the Center for Economic Strategy.
Of course, the defense of the country is our top priority, but war does not eliminate other needs. We need to rebuild hospitals, equip shelters in schools, restore the water network and the heating networks. After all, it is also a matter of people's safety and normal life.
In total, UAH 116 billion was earmarked for public investments in the 2027 budget. At first glance, this is 3% more than this year. But if inflation is taken into account, the real amount of funding, according to the Central Center, will decrease by 5%.
And another important point. Almost two-thirds of these funds should come from international partners. Therefore, it is extremely important for us to meet our obligations and ensure that we receive funding on time, so that the projects that have started do not remain unfinished.
First of all, it is necessary to finance what the life, health and safety of people directly depends on: so that children can study in schools with reliable shelters, hospitals - to receive patients, and Ukrainians' homes have water and heat. Based on these needs, we must continue determining the priorities of the state's investments.
