Eisenkot: Creative and unusual political moves are required to establish a new government.
Gadi Eisenkot, chairman of the Ishr! party, who received from President Yitzhak Herzog the mandate to form the new government, said that "no one will be able to keep every promise he made." Eisenkot, who insists that the establishment of a "national emergency government" is a top priority, won Herzog's approval after obtaining recommendations from 67 members of the Knesset, while his opponent Binyamin Netanyahu managed to gather only 46 recommendations.
"A stable government is needed; now is the time to lend a hand," Herzog himself noted, as quoted on Channel 13.
Eisenkot is now expected to meet with the chairman of the Yisrael Beitenu party Avigdor Lieberman to discuss the composition of the new government.
