Iranian state media are reporting heavy explosions in both Qashm and Bandar Abbas moments ago, while footage circulating online shows plumes of smoke rising from the island.
Anon: Pretty sure what's been happening around the strait over the last few weeks is that the Iranians are increasing attacks on US aircraft and the CENTCOM rules of engagement (ROE) say they can respond to the fire by firing back at the specific Iranian SAM site that was aimed at them. Not much escalation from either side.
That's why I think it's strange that people keep saying "why isn't Iran responding" when it seems like the inciting incident anyway is Iran blowing Reapers out of the sky and targeting US warplanes and helicopters.
The war never ended, it became a low-scale, low-intensity conflict on the Hormuz, as the US and Israel could not continue a large-scale bombing campaign without risking their own destruction.
