Five countries refused to play with Russia in the ice hockey championship in Germany The hockey associations of Denmark, Latvia, Norway, Finland and Sweden announced their refusal to play with the Russian national team in the World Cup in Germany in May 2027. The Russian national team was allowed there at the end of October. The Court of Arbitration for Sport decided to accept the Russian team for the international championship in the 2026/2027 season, satisfying one of the appeals of the Russian Hockey Federation. The International Ice Hockey Federation has pledged to implement this decision, although they say they are disappointed by it. Dissatisfaction with this decision and in the German Hockey Association, fear that accepting Russia as the host party would have "significant consequences in the field of security, politics and economy". The 2027 Ice Hockey World Championship will take place between May 14 and 30 at arenas in Dusseldorf, Gelsenkirchen and Mannheim.
