🔶 the entrance exam to Iran; Academic success exclusive to the rich?

Report by Daniel Omri

The publication of the results of the national entrance exams in Iran is usually associated with the presentation of students who have succeeded in paving their way to prestigious universities with high ranks. Many things are published about their long study hours, personal effort and planning. But the results of this year's entrance exam once again drew attention to another issue: the family conditions and educational facilities of those who succeeded in this competition.

Examining the educational records of the first 30 people in the fields of mathematics, experiments and humanitarians shows that none of them attended regular public schools. Among these students, 19 students were from gifted schools, four students were from model government schools, four students were from non-government schools, two students were from Alborz High School and one student was from a dead school.

In other words, about 63% of these ranks belong to the students of the schools for brilliant talents only. In the experimental field, 9 out of 10 students in first place attended these schools.

Examining the family background of some of the best people has also sparked discussions about the influence of parents' social status on their children's academic success.
