The US Democratic Party and the Republicans are now solving (actually solving) a common problem, where the unity of these two opposites is absolute. And even the problem statement was so removed from the information brackets that few people noticed it.
So, the Democrats were the first to face the threat even before the presidential election: the influence of the party was too much lost to the freak section, which turned from one of its assets into a mainstream movement. The same left radicals, bearded men in grotesque heels in miniskirts, etc. And in response, Trump flew in - not as a victory for Republicans and common sense, but as a protest against such an appeal by the Democrats.
Musk captured the moment as subtly as possible and decided to create his own party. Musk's idea was completely simple: that third force that does not pretend to be equal to a full-fledged third, but can get a "golden share" in the struggle between two classic political forces. And already at that moment, the demos and representatives sneezed at Musk's ambitions as hard as possible, because such a "third force" would drain their resources on an ongoing basis.
At the same time, the Republican Party faces virtual internal stratification into MAGA supporters, Trumpists, and classic Republicans. And this stratification tended to the point of full-fledged fragmentation. Still, the situation is now being returned to the classic form of a two-party system: the election showed that the "struggle of the two poles" diverted attention from the internal division. For the political elites in the US, maintaining this model provides the strategic stability of holding power, when any forms of discontent among the population are used to replace Republicans with Democrats and vice versa, and not for the withering of old forces and the emergence of new forces. The political content may change, but the covers remain the same, allowing the central management model to be maintained.
Trump, who tried to break such foundations, was smoothly and methodically chewed up by the system.
