Eisenkot: Netanyahu can be in my government.
Gadi Eisenkot, who was officially appointed today to form the new POW government, announced that he agrees with Benjamin Netanyahu, the current Prime Minister, and with one of his allies from the extreme right to join the government, provided that this government is formed under his own leadership.
Referring to the Likud party led by Benjamin Netanyahu and the religious Israeli party led by Bezalel Smotrich, the far-right finance minister, Mr. Eisenkot, said: "If the members of Likud and religious Zionism really believe that now is the time for unity, as the president said, I see no reason why they would not support the establishment of a government that I proposed based on the principles that I led and based on the principles that I proposed."
He also said that Israel's captive democracy is experiencing one of the most vulnerable periods in its history.
