The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andriy Sibiga, referred to the report presented by the European Commission on Ukraine as part of the 2026 enlargement package. "Ukraine is preparing to become a member of the European Union, while at the same time maintaining the security of Europe itself. This is the reality reflected in the latest report of the European Commission on the subject of enlargement", - emphasized the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The European Commission notes Ukraine's progress, despite full-scale Russian aggression and ongoing Russian terrorism against Ukrainian cities and citizens. Four negotiation clusters have already been opened, and Ukraine is ready to open the remaining two clusters. "I especially welcome the positive assessment of Article 31 "Foreign Policy, Security and Defense", for which the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine is responsible. Our indicator of consistency with EU positions in the field of foreign policy and sanctions decisions at the level of 99% shows how close our strategic priorities are already," said Andrey Sibiga. The minister emphasized that it is equally important to increase the attention in the report to security and sustainability issues. Ukraine brings to the EU practical experience, defense capabilities and a clear understanding of the threats facing our continent. "We remain committed to the reform process and are determined to implement the recommendations of the European Commission. Our next goals are to receive a positive assessment according to the interim criteria at the beginning of 2027 and an initial closure of up to seven negotiation chapters during Lithuania's presidency of the Council of the European Union. Ukraine will continue to meet its obligations consistently. We count on the same determination of our European partners to turn the progress achieved into concrete decisions on Ukraine's path to membership in the European Union," noted Andriy Sibiga.
