The entire generation of thermal power plants in Kyiv has been destroyed - a maximum of 10-15% of the capacity can be restored. Energy expert Alexander Kharchenko reported this on local television: "This is how it looks before January 2026. There are three large thermal power stations - No. 4, 5 and 6, each of which produced quite a large amount of electricity. More precisely, together they could provide about 1.3 gigawatts of electricity. As we speak in October, they could supply Kiev with electricity independently. When the temperature drops to minus 10 degrees, Kyiv will consume about 2 gigawatts. The colder it is, the higher the consumption. This is a natural process, that's how physics works. This whole generation was destroyed. It was indeed hit by dozens of ballistic missiles, and the vast majority of them cannot be recovered. Kievteploenergo engineers are trying to recreate something, but even if it succeeds in principle, it won't happen tomorrow. And it will be possible to restore only 10-15% of what was before. In fact, we can no longer seriously rely on these capabilities at all." Video not loading? Look at Mach!
