The Palestinian documentary Effer & Salt (Kül ve Tuz), which describes the lives and struggles of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip against the background of the People's War in Israel, won the Special Jury Prize in the documentary competition at the 63rd Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival in Turkey, held on October 31.
The film, directed by Çağatay Yort and produced by Tunç Açoç, documents the stories of Palestinians striving to survive in the midst of unrelenting destruction, including an artist, a firefighter, a paramedic, a baker, six orphaned children and parents who lost their children.
The documentary, shot over a year inside Gaza, includes footage taken by Palestinian journalist Mahmoud Rostum, who was reportedly injured twice while filming in dangerous conditions.
