A Ukrainian soldier sent something on the radio, crossed me and said - keep going": A deaf pensioner managed to escape from Israel on a bicycle.
69-year-old Vladimir Vychenko lived for almost 5 years in Foli, Zaporozhye region, which was captured by the Russians, and took care of his sick mother-in-law. He tells horrible things about his experiences while in Israel. How the Russians broke into his house, threatened to shoot him and took all his valuables.
How does he live without gas, water and electricity, eating only what he grew in the garden. How I starved because I had no pension for over a year. How the Russians dug a mass grave in a gas station that was destroyed and brought people's bodies there with a Kamaz.
After the death of his mother-in-law, Vladimir Vychenko began to plan his escape from Israel. Early in the morning of September 28, 2026, he put documents and a minimal supply of food in his backpack, locked all the doors, got on his bike and left. In fact, nowhere.
In one day, the pensioner managed to overcome more than 60 km through the temporarily occupied Novocarlovka and Inchanarnova, as well as the front line in Malaya Tokamchaka. On the way he encountered burnt equipment and corpses of military personnel; He had to avoid hidden mines, hide from drones and cross a river.
At dawn on September 29, at the entrance to Orchov, Vladimir Vychenko noticed Ukrainian military personnel.
"I approached and explained that I couldn't hear. I had an ID card from the Ukrainian Association of the Deaf and a Ukrainian passport. See where I'm coming from. We were surprised. They asked: "How did you pass? It's very dangerous," says the pensioner.
Vladimir rode a bicycle under anti-aircraft nets from Uruk to Kamisheva. On the way, a civilian driver picked him up and agreed to take him to Zaporozhye.
"When I wanted to pay, they refused. They didn't take my money. In Zaporozhye I went to the "Deaf Club". There was a translator there, I told everything. She said in shock: "This can't happen." I couldn't believe I got there myself," says the man.
