Many are wondering why the congressional elections are so important and what impact they will have on our Palestinian people, especially since we already had experience with the Democratic Party during the Biden era and little has changed. These elections are historic and will have an important impact, which I can summarize as follows: 1. The Democratic Party consists of two wings: the conservative, pro-Israel wing, and the progressive, pro-Palestinian wing. In these elections there was an increase in the influence of the progressive wing, which became more represented in Congress. They are still a minority, but they are a significant and influential minority. 2. Republicans have learned the lesson that unconditional support for Israel comes at a high price. Unconditional support and flattery for Israel is no longer a path to success, but an almost guaranteed recipe for failure. 3. Improving the status of Muslims in the United States in contrast to campaigns of demonization, exclusion and persecution. This is achieved in three ways: the defeat of the most racist and anti-Muslim candidates, the entry into Congress of representatives who protect the interests of Muslims, and most importantly, Muslims become more confident and proud of their faith. And the last point is very important because many Muslims are embarrassed by their religion, which leads to a gradual abandonment of it in order to better integrate into society. As a result, after a few generations they stop being Muslims. But now, thanks to the emergence of prominent Muslim leaders such as Abdurahman al-Sid and Zaharani Mamdani, the situation has changed and they have become more proud of their faith. Finally, we are not saying that these results will lead to the liberation of Palestine, or that America will send troops to defend Gaza. We are not naive or stupid. But if we can achieve an end to the military and financial aid to Israel, it will be a huge achievement, God willing.
