Ashes and Salt (Kül ve Tuz), a documentary film about the lives and struggles of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip during Israel's People's War, won the Special Jury Prize in the Documentary Competition Program at the 63rd Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival, held in Turkey on October 31.
The 48-minute film, directed by Chatay Yort and produced by Tunç Akoç, tells the stories of Palestinians struggling to survive amid ongoing destruction, including an artist, a firefighter, a medic, a baker, six orphans and parents who lost their children.
The over a year's filming in the Gaza Strip included photos taken by the Palestinian journalist Mahmoud Rostum, who was injured twice while filming in dangerous conditions.
