According to Reuters, on Friday, November 6, a few days before Pope Leo XIV's first visit to the country, Peruvian authorities installed a giant statue of him in the coastal area of Callao.
This statue is 14 meters high, which includes a four meter base and a 10 meter long statue. Rafael Gutierrez, the creator of this work, said that its internal structure is made of galvanized steel and covered with a special marine paint to protect against salt and moisture from the sea.
This statue was transported by truck from the construction site to the installation site at night and is located on the official route of the Pope's journey in the Costa Verde coastal area of Callao.
Pope Leo XIV is scheduled to arrive in Peru on November 11, equivalent to November 11. Born in Chicago, he has lived and worked in Peru for several decades and holds the citizenship of this country. A Vatican spokesman described the trip as a "homecoming" for the Pope and a return visit to places where he spent many years of his life.
