Daily Mail reported that a cyber attack on several blood storage centers in France targeted the cooling systems of these centers and the attackers tried to raise the temperature of the plasma storage to a dangerous level.
The French blood organization said the attack affected three centers on Monday, November 3, but alarm systems quickly detected abnormal temperature changes and staff were able to transfer or secure plasma supplies. According to this organization, no blood products were lost and no health consequences were reported.
France's National Agency for Cyber Security and the Ministry of Health are investigating the attack, and the French Blood Organization said it could not comment on the source of the attack or its perpetrators at this time.
This attack occurred several days after unknown hackers attacked the refrigerator and freezer systems of stores in several European countries and caused food to spoil by raising their temperature.
