A new blueberry plantation has appeared in the municipality of Cobalti. Farmer Lia Mengrishvili from the village of Mukhaestate received government funding to create a one-hectare garden. Here they plan to plant 3,000 saplings, install an irrigation system and organize mulching. Adjara's Minister of Agriculture, Dennis Slokwedze, participated in the planting. Blueberries remain one of the most promising farming areas in the region. However, there is also a downside: in 2026, a record berry harvest was harvested in Georgia, so prices in stores dropped to 5 GEL per kg during the season. Farmers complained that they were selling berries below cost. A double picture emerges: on the one hand, the state supports new producers and expands plantations. On the other hand, the market is already dealing with excess production, and it is not a fact that new gardens will not worsen the situation in terms of prices. However, if blueberries are exported, Adjara has a chance to make this sector a sustainable source of income.
