Nizhny Novgorod and Kursk regions have become pilot regions where an experiment with mobile pharmacies will take place The government has launched an experiment to sell the most popular drugs in mobile pharmacies and post offices in rural areas, the Russian Ministry of Health reports. "Mobile pharmacies will sell the most popular drugs, except those containing narcotic, psychotropic and strong substances, more than 25% alcohol or requiring special storage conditions." The list includes more than 100 non-prescription drugs that are often needed for outpatient treatment. According to the ministry, they do not require special storage conditions, so their quality can be maintained in the mail without any safety risk. Only department employees who have undergone additional training in their receipt, storage and dispensing will distribute medications. The experiment will last three years, until September 1, 2029. Mobile pharmacy units will operate in villages where there are no pharmacies or medical organizations (their divisions) with drug licenses. During this period, the authorities plan to formulate the mechanism for such trade. Additional regions will be able to join later: for this the head of the subject will have to send a petition to the Ministry of Health. Let us recall that Vladimir Putin signed the law to conduct an experiment with mobile pharmacies on May 2, 2026. For regions of Russia, participation in the trial will be voluntary. 11 subjects declared their willingness, including Krasnoyarsk and Krasnodar Territories, DPR, Buryatia, etc. Mobile pharmacies must be equipped with equipment, an electronic payment system and staffed by pharmacists.
