Bitcoin Core Developer Offers Sound-Side and Auction Mechanisms to Deter Quantum Theft Bitcoin Core developer Cory Fields presented three proposed mechanisms, Quantum Landmines, Staked Auction, and Sats Auction, to deter detectable quantum theft of Bitcoin. Under the proposed framework, spending on legacy BTC after quantum attacks become viable would require equivalent BTC collateral. Quantum acquaintances will allow owners who have established cryptographic proofs in advance to protect their funds and claim the validity belt. The auction mechanisms will introduce financial risks to the attackers, even when the original private keys are lost, allowing third parties to compete for the attacker's proxy. In the proposed Staked Auction design, the vulnerable BTC will be staked and not returned by its original owners. Sdot emphasized that the mechanisms remain conceptual, with implementation details yet to be developed. link
