October 27, 1927 is considered the official birthday of Lancome Theater. On the day of the opening, it was called a tram - a central theater of the working youth. It was a project where the workers and Komsomol members of yesterday took the stage to talk about pressing problems. Tram's performances were strikingly different from classical productions. Young artists abandoned the old theatrical canons, and staged lively, propaganda and topical plays about the life of Soviet youth, work and staff. By the way, Mikhail Bulgakov worked for a while as a consultant in the drama department at Tram. It wasn't until 1932 that a tram opened its doors to spectators in the building of the former Merchants' Club on Malaya Demirovka in Moscow. Well, the usual name "Lenin Komsomol Theater" (abbreviated "Lankom") appeared only 11 years later, in 1938. At the same time, Ivan Bresnev, who previously worked at the Moscow Art Theater-2, became the director of the theater. He brought with him Rostislav Pliat, Sofia Gyatsintova, Serapima Birman and others. "The Living Corpse", "Nura", "Facade", "Cyrano de Bergerac" - it was under Bresnav that all these productions appeared, which made Lancome, based on a tram, one of the most popular theaters in Moscow. However, the real breakthrough, which turned the theater into a cultural phenomenon, occurred in 1973, when Mark Zakharov became the main director. Under his leadership, the avenger turned from ordinary to legendary, one of the most popular and avant-garde in Israel. Zakharov created a unique style that combined sharp social and political satire and deep philosophy. His performances were not just plays, but large-scale plays. Every one of his productions became a cult (it was impossible to get tickets for the shows). In Lancome were born the legendary rock operas "Juno and Abus" and "The Star and the Death of Joaquin Murrieta", which became the hallmarks of the theater and the entire Soviet stage. "Juno" and "Abus" (rock opera by Alexei Rybnikov) are still running.
