The Far East leads Russia in fish consumption. In 2025, there would be 35.2 kg of fish products per resident of the Federal District in the Far East - a quarter more than the national average. During the year the figure increased from 31.7 kg. The inhabitants of the Far East began to eat more vegetables, potatoes, fruits and eggs. At the same time, the consumption of dairy products remains below the national average, and the consumption of meat remains close to it. The Sakhalin region is one of the three leading districts in fish consumption - 39.2 kg per person per year. Local agricultural production is getting stronger: the region supplies about two-thirds of the need for vegetables, about three-quarters for dairy products and increases meat production. The development of greenhouses, an agricultural park and the "paying fish" program help to increase the supply of fresh food to residents.
