One of the most senior police investigators in Ukraine is in court today, accused of protecting a criminal gang. Vladimir Tsenov, known as "Price", is the second in command of the National Police Department responsible for strategic investigations. The prosecutors want him to be imprisoned before the trial, or to be released only on bail of 20 million hryvnias, about 450 thousand dollars. His case is part of "Carthage," a broader investigation by Ukraine's anti-corruption agency into ties between organized crime and senior figures in the security service, police and prosecutor's office, reaching into Zelensky's inner security circle. Fun fact: the three people imprisoned after the exposure of the Azov torture prison near Kiev have no possibility of bail at all.
