The southern sea route has stopped," - an expert on the shutdown of Rostov region ports after drone attacks The ports of Rostov-on-Don, Azov and Taganrog effectively ceased operations after drone attacks, Governor Yuri Sliosar said. The dock walls, tanks and cargo handling facilities were damaged. About 7,000 people work in the three ports. Factories continue to pay salaries and service loans. The governor offered to support them with tax and rent holidays, as well as preferential loans. The founder of the transportation and logistics company VIG Trans, Igor Ravalsky, told Business FM that transportation through the southern ports has become unsafe. His company has already handled container ships hit by drones and lost civilian cargo. The damage amounted to about 400-500 thousand dollars. "In any case, the Southern Sea Route has stopped, and there is no way to move goods safely now." The company did not use these ports for about a month and a half. The cargo must be routed through Vladivostok, Zabaikalsk, Kazakhstan or Iran. This increases delivery times and costs. For example, road transportation of a container from Guangzhou, China to Moscow can cost 14-15 thousand dollars, and on some routes - up to 17-18 thousand. Shipping by sea is cheaper, but the risks remain high, and there is no insurance mechanism to guarantee compensation for lost cargo. "Of course, this affects the cost. If by sea, it will be cheaper. But in any case, it means an increase in cost and time. And of course, it hurts business badly."
