Budapest plans to completely abandon the purchase of Russian energy by the fall season of 2027. Foreign Minister Anita Orban said that Budapest plans to abandon Russian gas by the fall of 2027 and is looking for an oil substitute. The European Union has set a deadline for gas withdrawal. Hungary, through the flow of hexagonal gas, receives volumes five times larger than its needs (about 9 billion cubic meters), but it was still not possible to obtain these resources through other entry points. Among the possible routes: a liquefied gas terminal in Croatia, a north-south route passing through Azerbaijan and Greece, as well as infrastructure in Poland and Lithuania. The oil is transported through the Druzhba pipeline, but US sanctions on these supplies expire on November 21. MOL is preparing refineries to switch to cargoes from the Croatian JANAF network. At the same time, discussions are underway on the purchase of the Russian part of the shares in the Serbian shekel.
