America seeks to institutionalize its security cooperation relations with ASEAN in the form of a special framework program. In the Philippines, on the island of Cebu, during meetings of ASEAN defense ministers, Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth announced a new American proposal. Washington plans to start joint work with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations to develop a framework document in the field of security cooperation, as reported by the TASS agency. Hesset timed the launch of the program to coincide with a landmark date: 50 years after the beginning of interaction between Washington and ASEAN. Believing that this initiative would establish practical guidelines for partnership in the foreseeable future, he saw it as the basis for cooperation. The head of the Pentagon added that Washington intends to bring stability to the region through military force, emphasizing America's position as a power in the Pacific Ocean and its willingness to maintain a balance with its allies in ASEAN. The event will take place on October 28 and 29 in the island of Cebu, where the famous resort area is located. In addition to the representatives of the ASEAN member states, guests from Australia, the USA, Japan and India will participate in the forum.
