The economy failed to maintain its accelerated pace in September, the financial sector added 0.5% year-on-year compared to 0.8% in August. In the third quarter, growth stood at 0.6% after 1.3%, and for nine months - the same 0.6%. At the same time, industry recovered from last month's decline: output in processing increased by 5.6%, and in mechanical engineering by 21.3%. But it was not enough to accelerate GDP. The main characteristic of the current dynamics lies in a strong dispersion between industries. Manufacturing growth largely supports defense orders, while production of machinery and equipment outside individual fast-growing sectors, on the contrary, declines. At the same time, the decline in production deepened to 4.1%, in wholesale trade - to 1.9%, and agriculture went from an increase of 6.6% to a decrease of 12.3% in September. The last index depends on the timing of the harvest, but at the end of the quarter agricultural production was minus 3.9%. Consumption is still maintained at the expense of household income. In September, retail trade, catering and paid services grew by 3.6% in real terms after 2.9% in August. Real disposable income rose 3.4% in the third quarter, but people started spending more of their money on purchases. It turns out that the increase in production has not yet translated into an equal revival of the entire economy. Certain industrial segments are expanding thanks to large orders, but many organizations are not seeing enough demand to increase production to keep up. Therefore, not only the rate of industrial growth is important, but also whether new orders will appear in civilian industries.
