The demand for builders and renovators in Russia has almost tripled according to a study by Avito Poderbotka and Laman Peru for the months of January - September 2026, the number of offers for part-time jobs in the field of construction and repairs jumped by 187% compared to the same period last year. On average, they offer about 5.5 thousand rubles per shift. But the growth was uneven. The demand for furniture components jumped the most - by 109%. For such a part-time job, on average they pay about 4.5 thousand rubles per shift. In second place are welders (+26%, about 5.5 thousand rubles), in third place are electricians (+13%, about 7.3 thousand rubles). Due to the inaccessibility of mortgages, Russians have become more active in renovating the interior of old housing. At the same time, many do not take everything on themselves, but hire specialists for specific tasks: assembling a cabinet, laying wiring, welding metal structures. Businesses are looking for flexibility. Instead of hiring a full-time employee, companies and private customers are increasingly turning to contracting. This makes it easy to adapt to peak loads or one-off projects. The entire industry is experiencing a labor shortage. Demographic trends also played a role (fewer young specialists enter the market), the flow of some migrant workers, and the fact that not all graduates of special educational institutions go to work in their specialty. At the same time, wages for builders in Russia began to decrease due to stagnant sales and the crisis in the industry. For artisans, this is a good opportunity to increase their earnings by getting a part-time job. For employers, there is fierce competition for suitable people. And for the economy as a whole, this is a signal that the demand for "manual" work in construction and in everyday life remains high. Along with the increase in demand, the costs of the repairs themselves also increase. According to experts, the share of labor costs in the total estimate (including materials) has already reached 65-70%. That is, employers and clients have to budget more not only because of a lack of hands, but also because the processes themselves have become more expensive. It's a family affair.
