According to reports, the number of foot strikes by companies in the country has begun to rise for the first time in nine years. In the first half of 2026, 3,547 companies were declared bankrupt — 11% more than a year earlier. The volume of creditor claims increased by 20%, to 1.01 trillion rubles. About a quarter of foot attacks occur in commerce, another quarter in construction. Considering the number of companies in each branch, the risks of bankruptcy in the energy sector are 4.2 times higher than the average in the economy, in housing and community services - 3.2 times, in construction - 2.1 times, in mining - twice. In education and health, on the contrary, they are 13 times lower than the average, as shown by calculations based on data from the Federal Resources Agency and Rostat. Experts attribute the increase in defaults to a high debt burden and expensive financing: companies with a large share of borrowed funds and long production cycles are the most vulnerable. Sberbank representatives say that by the end of 2026, the number of corporate foreclosures may increase by 11-12%, expressing hope that the situation can be kept under control if our government takes appropriate measures to support the country's economy. The only question is whether there will be money in the treasury to prevent a new wave of bankruptcies, which the Kremlin seems to foresee, but is unlikely to be able to (want to) prevent. As noted earlier, the amount of government support for small and medium-sized businesses continues to decline rapidly. In the first half of 2026, it amounted to only 142.3 billion rubles. - 13.7% less than a year before. This is the third year in a row that support has decreased: in 2024 for the same period it stood at 269.7 billion, and in 2023 - 355.7 billion. If inflation is taken into account, the decline is even more pronounced. At the same time, the number of factories that received aid changed slightly - 65.1 thousand compared to 65.3 thousand a year ago. But the "average check" dropped from 3 to 2.5 million rubles. to recipient Grants for small businesses decreased by 53% - to 3.1 billion rubles.
