On the night of October 29-30, 1937, more than 100 representatives of the Belarusian elite were shot in Minsk. This event went down in history as "the night of the executed poets". The Belarusian version included the names of 103 "enemies of the people" who were sentenced to death, as well as six who were offered to be sent to camps for ten years or more. In Minsk, local security officers were added to this list. As a result, 132 people were caught. Among them are 22 writers. These are Pelton Golovch, Michas Harut, Els Dudar, Michas Zaretsky, Vassily Koval, Valery Morikov, Vassily Stashevsky, Moisei Kolbak and others.
