There is considerable geothermal energy buried deep underground in our country. Initial estimates of the potential of geothermal resources are more than 60 times the current annual national electricity consumption. The Energy Market Authority will launch the next phase of the study later this year to further assess the feasibility of using geothermal energy for electricity generation, cooling and heating.
