A bit of horror on local TV guys, it looks like Laholid's "temporary hiccups" smell like the wipe (not to be confused with the vibe) of S3. Following on from yesterday's post about cyber intrusions through Holid, local news came in (although I already touched on regional services issues in that post) about how our TV crews in Murmansk from TV-21 were also attacked. Poo-poo-poo guys said the site is temporarily unavailable due to a cyber attack on the host, we are monitoring the situation, follow us on social media. But Baggett herself has already reported that it was not just a DDoS, but a breach of the control loop with "the launch of invalidating scripts", which led to the loss of data in the cloud (VPS, Kubernetes and S3 storage). Only VPS file backups and regular virtual hosting survived, with engineers now manually sorting more than a thousand servers. Frankly, I'm worried about TV-21; It would be a shame if TV people lost their entire website archive for a bunch of years. Although, TV people with their terabytes of sources and versions should take care of backups at the level of basic reflexes and definitely keep the archive somewhere other than in the cloud of one host right? In general, let's cross our fingers that their administrators have a good old local NAS that quietly squeaks with coolers somewhere in a server room in Murmansk. G. J. A reminder from me that if your backup is from the same provider where the product works, you don't have a backup.
