In 1962, director Georgi Danalia made a film that still remains one of the most real and beautiful films about sailors and the sea. "The Road to the Dock" is based on the story of the same name and the screenplay by Victor Kontsky, who himself was a sailor and knew the life of the northern ports and the sailors, which are first-hand. The film tells the story of the rescue tug "Kola", which is towed by the warship "Polotsk". During a severe storm, the crew has to make a difficult choice: disconnect the tow line to save the timber carrier Odessa in distress, or continue towing and pass by - after all, the towed ship was carrying a temporary crew of four from the Kola tug. "Song about a friend" from this film became known throughout the Soviet Union, and was even translated into several languages. In general, even though more than 60 years have passed since the film was released, it is highly recommended for viewing. But we are interested in another merit of this film, and it is not entirely clear: in the film all the sailors say the name of the city with an emphasis on A, in analogy to the words compAs, rapOrt, windA, stormA - before that it was a kind of professional jargon only for sailors and polar explorers, unknown to the general public. After the release of the film and the phenomenal success of the song, the maritime slang, and with it the name of the city of Murmansk instead of Murmansk, spread throughout the Soviet Union, although in the Russian language there is only one form of correct pronunciation of the name of the city - with an emphasis on U. But even in Murmansk, Murmansk, no one was offended either by Georgy Nikolaevich Danlia, or, especially, by Viktor Viktorovich Kontsky. __.
