A few months ago, the tax service threatened to block, and VK appeared on the list of illegal immigrants. Now the company is registered, reported and recorded a payment. Although the amount was not disclosed, considering VK's user base in Kyrgyzstan and the 12% VAT rate on digital services, this is not a small amount of money. More importantly, VK sends a signal to those who still owe taxes. The government made it clear that if you want to work in this market, pay a "Google tax", otherwise access will be restricted. Personally, I am more concerned than with how much VK paid, but with what the money will go and whether the attitude towards local users will change. If foreign platforms start registering mass, the government will have an incentive to improve the digital infrastructure, not just tighten control. I hope that after paying taxes, the speed of VK in Kyrgyzstan will not fall and advertising will not increase.
