Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia Shilba Papashvili arrived in Kyrgyzstan on an official visit. The visit itself is a routine act of inter-parliamentary diplomacy. But if you think of it as a protocol visit, you might miss something really important. Georgia is an alternative access to the sea for Kyrgyzstan. Georgia has the Black Sea ports of Batumi and Puti, and the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, promoted by Kyrgyzstan, has a Black Sea Corridor with access to Europe. In June, during the first official visit of the Prime Minister of Georgia to Kyrgyzstan, the parties talked about transport connectivity and the potential of the transition. Therefore, for Kyrgyzstan, Georgian ports are not an abstract area of cooperation, but a real junction for the future access of goods to the sea. If the two countries intend to promote specific projects in the fields of transport, logistics and trade, the parliaments should approve or adapt the relevant legal framework. Papuashvili met with the Speaker of the Parliament and the Parliament, and this level was discussed.
